A Hammered Pewter Basin by Edgar Curtis & Co. - SOLD
This 7 11/16" basin was made by Edgar Curtis & Co. of Bristol, England working circa 1793-1801, this and much of what was produced by this firm were destined for export to the United States.
This firm produced a wide variety of forms including plates, dishes, and basins in a sizable range of sizes. Plates and dishes included shallow and deep forms.
Hollowware forms include mugs (taper and tulip form) tankards, teapots, of several different designs. Some of the earlier production teapots are found with wood handles.
This basin is nicely hammered. The metal is in very good plus condition with a few sporadic pits on the inside of the well of the basin. There are also some nicks along the interior edge of the rim apparently where someone cut or stirred something in the basin. (ON HOLD)
