A Very Fine Export Pewter Platter by Richard Yates - SOLD

This 13 3/8" single reed rim platter was made by Richard Yates, London 1772-1820's. The quality of the metal and workmanship is excellent. This is a substantial casting of a thickness that would stand up to heavy use.

This piece, however, saw little if any use. A very few knife marks are on the face surface. In fact both on the face and back you can still see the broad turning marks from the lathe finishing. The marks are strong and well struck. The hallmarks are those of Lawrence Yates, Richard's father. The bouge is nicely hammered.
