A 16 3/8 Fasson Pewter Platter - SOLD
This 16 3/8" export pewter platter was produced in the shop of John Fasson who plied his trade in London from 1753-1796. He had a fairly significant export trade to New England.
This platter is in exceptional condition especially for one of this size. Generally they saw heavy use. This piece shows essentially no use at all, note the lack of knife marks.
The touchmarks are super and there is an absence of "scuffing" on the back of this piece which is caused by moving the platter over a table surface. The hammering and turnings are very sharp and crisp.
There is only a minor amount of light pits on the entire surface. There are some "casting faults" on the face of the piece.
To improve on this would be difficult
