This funnel was cast in the same mold used by the Wills and the Bassetts and dates from the 18th century.
The spout of this example has been shortened probably due to wear and for convenience of the user. There is also a small hole that was drilled toward the upper lip undoubtedly for hanging the funnel on a nail or hook likely in a tavern.
This funnel has the same turnings found consistently on all marked NYC funnels. Marked examples are known by Henry Will, Fredrick Bassett and recently discovered example attributed to Robert Boyle of NYC.
The funnel is 6 3/8" tall to end of spout. The diameter of the opening is 5 3/4". In very good condition showing the wear one would expect on a utilitarian item like this.
