A Export Footed Pewter Teapot by Richard Pitt - SOLD
This handsome export pewter pear form teapot was made in the shop of Richard Pitt, London 1747-1793. This teapot has a most interesting lid design incorporating a hint of the stepped dome lids that came about in the 1780's and used by makers like Robert Bush and Hale and Son of Bristol. This is the only London teapot I have ever encountered with a double stepped dome lid. Nicely engraved owner's initials are on the side of the body
The teapot is in fine condition measuring 7 1/8" tall to the top of the finial. The wood finial button is original and the handle is an old replacement. We get footed teapots infrequently. (W&P) (ON HOLD)
