A Middletown Pewter Plate by Joseph Danforth

A Middletown Pewter Plate by Joseph Danforth

This pewter plate was made in the 7 7/8" plate mold used by the entire Middletown Danforth family as well as Jacob Whitmore.

Joseph had a short career due to his death at the tender age of 30. His skill as a pewterer rivaled that of his father, Thomas Danforth II.

Joseph's workmanship showed consistent quality of metal and turning. Had he lived longer there is no telling what additional items he may have created.

In very good plus condition with fine "as struck" touches.

Price: $325
