A Fasson & Son Export Pewter Plate

This 8 5/16" single reed rim pewter plate is in fine condition, with excellent touches. This was a partnership of John Fasson and his son, Thomas Fasson. The firm was in business in London from 1782-1798.

It is uncertain as to how the Samuel Ellis hallmarks came into the possession of the Fassons. Thomas Swanson another London pewterer also used them and was the successor to Ellis' business.

It appears the market for Ellis, Swanson, and the Fassons was primarily New England based on anecdotal observation of where examples of their pewter is found.
