A Gill Bud Measure by Thomas Mathews - SOLD

This gill export pewter bud baluster measure was made by Thomas Mathews of London. Mathews worked circa 1711-1750.

This measure is in very good plus condition with a good touchmark to on the lip of the measure to the right of the handle. The measure is 4 1/16" tall to the top of the thumbpiece.

Note the handle is "burned" on, in other words cast in place like a porringer handle, hence there are linen marks on the inside of the measure at the upper and lower handle junctions.
