Samuel was trained by Thomas Danforth III of Middletown latter of Rocky Hill. Kilbourn moved to Baltimore in 1814. He carried on his business there until 1839. He is known to have produced plates dishes and basin. In hollowware he produced mugs beakers and teapots. His workmanship is excellent and the quality of his metal is fine. This plate is in very good to fine condition with a few small areas of light pitting. The touchmark is fine as struck. 8 5/8" in diameter. A relatively scarce maker.
