A Pewter Porringer with Heart and Crescent Moon Handle

A Pewter Porringer with Heart and Crescent Moon Handle

This 3 3/8" diameter bowl porringer is of a type falsely attributed to Richard Lee. The attribution was based on Laughlin's touch L-413 which was subsequently found to be a fake.

As a result of the initial publication prior to Laughlin correcting this, all of these "heart handle" porringers were labeled as "Lee". Somewhere along the line Gleason was added as a scapegoat.

All this aside, this porringer is in nearly new condition and is beautifully made. This form dates from the early 19th century.

Price: $265
