A Pewter Flower Handle Porringer by Samuel E. Hamlin - SOLD
Samuel E. Hamlin followed in his father's footsteps as a gifted craftsman and Pewterer. Hamlin Jr. began his career in 1801 and continued until 1856. Assuming he was 21 when he finished his apprenticeship he plied his trade to the age of of 76. Counting the seven years he would have spent as an apprentice, he worked at his career for 62 years.
This porringer is in very good condition. The touchmark is fine and so too the linen mark. There are some surface pits on the bowl which shows some wear. Affordably priced and considerably less than a more perfect specimen. The bowl of the porringer measures 5 3/8" in diameter.
