A Very Fine Export Plate by Townsend & Compton - SOLD

This 8 1/4" single reeded plate is by the firm of Townsend and Compton of London. The firm was in business from 1784-1806.

The entire Townsend dynasty is responsible for a sizable portion of all the export pewter found in the United States.

One shipment made by John Townsend in the 1760's exceeded 12,000 items.

In fine condition with fine touches and well hammered booge.
