An 18th Century Pewter Plate by Frederick Bassett - SOLD
Frederick Bassett worked in New York City from 1761-1780 when he moved to Hartford, CT due to the British occupying NYC. He returned to New York circa 1785 and remained there until his death in 1800.
This 8 3/8" single reed rim plate is in very good condition with very good plus touches. of interest is the fact that instead of using his hall marks he struck two of his FB in rope border mark. The latter was frequently used on hollowware.
This plate shows use but was well cared for. An affordable example of an 18th century plate by Frederick Bassett.
