A Very Fine Pewter Plate by Richard Austin

8 13/16” plate by Richard Austin of Boston 1791-1817. Austin produced a variety of sizes of plates and 8” basins. He also produced platters ranging from 12” up to 15”.

He had this lamb and dove touch closely resembling the touch of Townsend & Compton, and a touch with an Indian from the Seal of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

This plate is in nearly new condition. Lathe marks show clearly on both the face and back surfaces. The touchmark is mint “as struck”.
