A Near Mint Small Size Basin by Thomas D. Boardman

Uncommon size Thomas D Boardman basin. This 7 3/16” basin is a size that I only know of examples by Boardman and Samuel Danforth of Hartford.

This basin is in nearly new condition showing very clear lathe turning marks both on the front and back. The backs of basins generally have broad turnings as is the case with this example.

Marked with Thomas’ eagle in waisted beaded border touch. This touch was designed after Boardman’s uncle Edward Danforth’s touch. Boardman spent much of his apprenticeship with Edward. The touchmark is mint as struck.
