A Mint Samuel Danforth Pewter Plate - SOLD
An absolutely spectacular 7 13/16” plate by Samuel Danforth of Hartford. This plate is as close to being Mint as they come. There are a few light scratches on the rim in one small area. All the lathe marks show clearly on the front and back of this plate. The back has a name lightly scratched into the surface. There are 2 oval eagle with SD touches deeply impressed. This plate would be very hard to improve upon.
Samuel who was one of Thomas Danforth II’s sons set up shop in Hartford in 1795 working until 1816. Samuel along with his brother Edward trained their nephew Thomas D. Boardman.
Truly a super example of Samuel Danforth’s flatware.
