This 5 5/16" diameter flower handle porringer is nearly mint. All the lathe turning are very sharp and clearly defined. The inside trough shows some chatter from vibrations that occurred in the turning process.
Note on the back of the bracket the "flashing" extending beyond the bracket. This happened due to the fact that the handle mold was not placed snugly against the body casting as a result the "flashing" occurred and the metal melted though only slightly producing a very small linen mark.
The form of the bracket is very similar to porringers made by the Boardmans. This example would certainly date 1780-1820.
