This pair of 9 3/4" candlesticks, although unmarked, are firmly attributed to the firm of Homan, working in Cincinnati, Ohio circa 1842 onward. This pair features applied "engine turned" decoration at the top, base and on the wafers and band of the bulbous portion of the shaft. This decoration was applied by using a knurling tool applied to the surface while the candlestick was turning on the lathe. Note the underside of the base is left unfinished. There was no "need" to finish this as it did not show. In near fine condition a very atractive pair.
