A Very Fine Example of a Large Neck Philadelphia Salt

Large “Neck” Philadelphia Salt. There are known three types of these double drop cup Philadelphia Salts. There are the narrow neck variety from the shop of William Will. A very uncommon type with a slightly wider neck, and this variety. This type is attributed to the shop of Parks Boyd. Both the narrow neck and large neck variety salts were used by their respective makers as the base for their pewter creamers.

This example is in fine condition showing only a slight amount of etching on the inside of the bowl from the reaction of salt with the metal. The exterior surface is very fine. Both the upper and lower edges are nicely beaded. This salt measures 2 ½” tall.

Price: $785
