A Dog Nose Handle Spoon Mold

This early 18th century bronze mold casts a dog nose handle spoon. This style of spoon was popular in the first quarter of the 18th century.

This example is likely American made by local braziers. Some students believe that these mold were imported here. This may be true, however the considerable number of period spoon molds leans toward the possiblity of local manufacture.

Either way this example is in fine condition. The mold is 8 5/8" long
